Mercedes W126 300 SE

Such was the success of the W126 Mercedes S Class released in 1979, production continued for a staggering 12 years with over 818, 000 cars produced.

This handsome 1986 300 SE in gleaming Signal red over grey is a welcome change to the typical monochrome examples we see, and the car scores excellently in all departments.

It sits on its original “manhole” alloys and has benefitted from some cosmetic work in recent years to keep it looking fresh over it 123k miles.

The grey velour seats have stood the test of time and the attractive Zebrano Wood is free from any cracks or peeling. An Continental radio is a welcome upgrade and is the only non-standard item on the car.

As the W126 is famed for, the build quality and engineering are exceptional, and the entire car has a wonderful precision-engineered feeling to it.

The 3.0 straight-six engine and 4-speed auto gearbox perform flawlessly and the steering and suspension provide just the right mix of both feedback and refinement.

The car has just benefitted from a full service in our workshop as well as a front suspension overhaul to make it perfect.
