Something very special has just arrived into stock $Something very special has just arrived into stock… As if the standard 1990 Mk2 Golf GTi wasn’t good enough, the previous owner of this stunning resto mod Golf came up with this, a 1.8 20v Turbo amk engine boasting superior spec and upwards of 240bhp… The body has been completely stripped to a bare shell and fully painted in the stunning colour of Mica Red. Having had a full engine bay detail including smoothed chassis legs, wiring tucked and the most glorious Turbo intake pipe work. The underside of the car is exactly the same. The rear subframe has been removed, powder coated and upgraded with power flex bushings. The wishbones, anti roll bar has also been upgraded along with the shocks all round. Needless to say, nothing on this car has been left untouched and this is an opportunity to own an awesomely modified Golf GTi at a fraction of the build cost. If, back in the day, your heart desired a mighty Integra Type R DC2 but your head said that a coupe wasn’t practical enough, then the DB8 was an absolute no-brainer. Those extra two doors could have made all the difference to letting you experience what is still regarded as one of the greatest FWD handling cars ever made.

1 of just 229 produced in its final year of production, this is a low mileage example with just 58k kms and was a grade 5 condition report from the supplying dealer before the car was imported to Ireland two years ago.

If you thought DC2s were a rare sight on Irish roads, the DB8 is almost mythical with a mere 5,135 units produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market.

Perfectly imperfect… Sometimes we all get held up on our classics being kept in bubbles and having them absolutely perfect. Today was YI’s first time out this year and the first time she turned over in 4 months…

I forgot to even disconnect the battery but she fired with gusto and started immediately. This is the longest I have ever owned any car. Nearly six years but it’s been awesome. It still draws huge attention as she burbles up the road with that silky smooth V8.

Even with creased and cracked seats, chipped paint and little oil leaks there is no car I love driving more.
