Volkswagen Polo GTi Mk5

Unlike a lot of hot hatches which get a more powerful engine shoved under the bonnet and some shiny big wheels, the Mk5 Polo GTi has a huge list of chassis and performance upgrades that make it a proper driver’s car.

This 2015 example is a Grade 4.5 import from Japan and has not just been tastefully spec’d, but also immaculately maintained ober its 107k kms.

Aside from the badging and customary flashes of red, the GTi has unique bumpers, side skirts, spoiler, exhaust and 17” diamond cut over black alloys. All of which present in immaculate condition.

The interior boasts a pair of deep bolstered seats in iconic GTi tartan, and the red stitching around the cabin leaves you in no doubt of what car you’re in. An upgraded Pioneer touch screen stereo has been fitted, too.

Being a facelift car, the engine is a 1.8 TSI unit with an impressive 189bhp and was spec’d with a much celebrated 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. Coupled with the GTi’s upraded brakes and suspension, it’s a very impressive package.
