Chevrolet G20 Panel Van

We don’t automatically think of a van when we think of American muscle, but the Chevrolet G-Series van is somewhat of an American motoring icon.

Built for a staggering 25 years (1971-1996), the Chevrolet van had various revisions over its life, and this 1978 G20 panel van example is the first year of production of one of the biggest and last revision made which updated its lights, grill and standardized its engine offerings – this one being a 305ci petrol V8.

As a rare surviving “uncut” panel van (most were converted to day vans or passenger vehicles) this G20 is in wonderful condition and has been treated to a full respray in its glorious shade of blue when the van was fully stripped, glass removed and painted to a high standard.

At the same time a new carpet was fitted to the retro and purposeful front cab and a host of mechanical upgrades were carried out, too.

The 3-speed automatic transmission was serviced with all new gaskets, new fuel lines and a new brake master cylinder were fitted, the rear axle was rebuilt and the 305ci (5.0l) V8 was serviced, the upgraded Holly Street Demon 650CFM carb was rebuilt and a new starter motor was fitted.

The result a surprisingly impressive driving classic van that looks spectacular and has that signature American V8 soundtrack.

Ideal as a promotional vehicle for a business, or as a basis for a conversion.
