As if the standard Mk2 Golf GTi wasn’t good enough, VW came up with this – the much-coveted Edition One G60 boasting superior spec and that all-important supercharged 8v engine.
Finished in Dark Burgundy, this Edition One is instantly recognisable bearing the unique lettering on the front of the bonnet, the Wolfsburg badge on the front wings along with some other subtle changes such as black VW badging.
This particular 1989 example is in excellent condition having been carefully looked after over its 216,000kms, and has just received a full engine rebuild less than 200 miles ago.
The car currently sits on GTi steel wheels with fresh Toyo tyres, but a pristine set of genuine staggered BBS wheels in gold (16×8” and 16×8.5”) are supplied with the car.
Inside, the unique touches continue with one-off Recaro bucket seats, Mauritius Blue carpet throughout, Wolfsburg over-mats plus other features like electric windows and manual sunroof.
The engine, however, is the real party piece. The conventional 8v engine features forged internals, Bosch fuel injection and a G-Lader supercharger generating 158bhp – a healthy gain over a standard 16v GTi.
A large history file accompanies the car containing previous MOTs and receipts and the car will be supplied with a fresh NCT.
Clean examples of these rare GTi variants don’t become available very often so don’t miss out.
