We all know that Toyotas are built to last, and none more-so than the J series 4×4 whose production run lasted no less than 41 years.
This 1982 short wheelbase Land Cruiser BJ40 is the result of one of a series of specially commisioned J40 Land Cruisers and has been subjected to one of the most meticulous restorations we’ve ever seen.
To say it’s as good as new would be an underestimation – it is better than new.
The beautiful Medium Green bodywork and 16″ wheels with Bridgestone Dueller M/T tyres give a sophisticated but purposeful look to the timeless design, and every single detail is flawless – from the bumpers to the NATO hitch, lights to the chrome hubcaps.
Flashes of the meticulously rebuilt chassis and suspension are proudly on display as you walk around the car with every fixture and fitting being zinc plated, galvanised or powdercoated to perfection.
The tasteful custom tan leather interior is a work of art, too, with all fixtures and fitting looking factory fresh. The folding rear bench seats allow for you and 6 of your friends to travel in retro style, too.
This BJ40 (BJ for diesels, FJ for petrols) isn’t just a show car, either, with its bulletproof 3.0 4-cylinder diesel engine, 4-speed manual gearbox, Hi/Low range, locking front hubs, front disc brakes and powersteering giving it proper off road capability – all of which have been completely rebuilt.
BJ40s are a timeless icon, and this spectacular example is as close as you’ll get to buying a brand new one.
