Rolls Royce Silver Shadow II

While boasting some technological improvements over its predecessor, the Silver Shadow, the Silver Shadow II retained its timeless charm and presence while offering a more sophisticated driving experience.

This stand-out 1978 example in the extremely rare colour combination of Onyx Gold with Highland Green ‘top hat’ was ordered from new from the Rolls Royce factory and is believed to be the only of its kind in the world.

With a mere 28,452 miles on the clock, this Silver Shadow is in stunning original condition having been truly treasured throughout its entire life by its 3 previous owners – the first being Douglas and Elizabeth Alexander of 18 years, the second being their daughter and son-in-law of 9 years, and the most recent owner of 18 years who imported the car to Ireland. In addition to being stored in a heated garage, the car has also been protected by its equally rare original Rolls Royce car cover which is included in the sale.

The car is a joy to drive, too, with its famous handmade 6.75 litre V8 engine riding on the silky smooth Citroen-derived hydraulic suspension. Creature comforts also come in the form of central locking, electric windows front and rear, air conditioning, power steering and brakes, part-electric front seats among many others. The Silver Shadow II’s rack and pinion steering and improved front suspension significantly improved handling, too.

Add to this that the car has just undergone a significant mechanical overhaul to the tune of €9k including brakes, suspension, gaskets, seals, hoses, brake and suspension lines, carburettor tuning and lots more.
