MG Metro 6R4 Replica

The ‘Group B’ category of the World Rally Championship in the 1980s inspired the wildest, most powerful rally cars ever built. The MG Metro 6R4 was born out of this short-lived era and Austin Rover’s optimistic thirst for motorsport success. As such, the legend of the Metro 6R4 was born.

Our car, although not an original, is the very best recreation we have seen. Built over a period of 4 years by an Aston Martin coach builder the standard of the build is extremely high – from proper composite panels, moulded into exact shapes to the one off rear subframe that has been built to hold the Rover K series engine that you would find in a Lotus Elise. 

The interior is finished to an impressive standard, too, with Cobra bucket seats, Sabelt harnesses, a bespoke leather centre console and a 3 gauge dashpot to measure the engines vitals. 

On the road, it’s absolutely intoxicating. The engine barks into life and the rear wheels scramble to find traction as you put the hammer down. Of course, the suspension and brakes have been upgraded for the job at hand and it’s an all round blast to drive. 

Presented in Rothmans rally colours, this MG Metro 6R4 replica is a beautifully engineered car in its own right, and is a fraction of the €400k cost of the real deal.
