The Mercedes R230 SL might’ve slipped under the radar for many years, but it’s safe to say the car’s most definitely an attainable modern classic now. As Mercedes-Benz brought in the new SL in the early noughties, its metal-folding roof was a first for the SL line, and the move away from Mercedes of old.
Presented here today is a car we have had the pleasure of selling before and is well known to ourselves. Sitting in the perfect combination of Obsidian Black with cream leather interior and maple wood inserts. The wheels have been updated to the SL55 type variant and sit really well on the car.
Mechanically, the car is spot on. The 3.7 litre V6 spurs into life and pulls remarkably well. The V6 engine is very revy and the rare semi automatic gearbox works an absolute treat for those back road adventures you wish to take on the weekend.
The biggest party trick if any R230 is it’s electrically folding hard top which completes the job in just 16 seconds. It was also the first to feature Mercedes ABC suspension system which still features today.
A genuinely lovely car and a sure modem classic. Presented with a good service history and a catalogue of parts and works which have been completed in the recent year. An excellent entry point into SL ownership.
Viewing strictly by appointment. All cars supplied with valid NCT where appropriate.
