Lancia Thema 8.32

The Lancia Thema 8.32 is a textbook example of the rhetoric – “if you know, you know”.

The standard Thema is a somewhat sedate looking mid-sized saloon so, when Lancia teamed up with Ferrari to take on the likes of the BMW 535i and Vauxhall Lotus Carlton, they inadvertently created one of the most celebrated sleepers.

Fitted with a transversely mounted version of the 3.0 32-valve V8 engine from the Ferrari 308 as well as a host of other upgrades, the already beautifully appointed Thema is something quite special indeed.

This 1988 example in Winner Red with its original hand-painted stripes is in stunning condition throughout and has been maintained regardless of cost.

With features such as fully-electric heated seats, sports suspension, alcantara head cloth, retractable rear spoiler, larger brakes, and optional electric sunroof and black Poltrona Frau leather interior, this 8.32 is remarkably refined and sensational to drive.

The sound from the V8 is utterly intoxicating and the performance (0-60 in 6.8secs and top speed of 149mph) matched with the outstanding comfort and build quality is a winning combination.

The car has a comprehensive history file covering its 140,000 kms and has had a timing belt replacement within the last 1,000 kms.

Sleeper classics don’t come much better than the Thema 8.32 and this rare example needs to be seen to be fully appreciated.
