Ford Mustang GTA Convertible

Is there a more iconic American car than a first-generation convertible Ford Mustang?
Especially when it’s as rare as this Mustang GTA.

Completed on January 3rd 1968, this staggeringly beautiful example has been part of a large private collection in Ireland, and is in pristine condition following an extensive restoration 8 years ago.

Finished in the rare colour combination of Presidential Blue with blue interior, this car has been expertly restored to its complete original specification – even down to the optional white wall tyres that were specified on the order sheet.

Other items on the order sheet (available with the car) were an AM/FM radio, air conditioning, 4-speed automatic transmission and, crucially, power brakes and power steering. This car still has the special option rear adjustable suspension that can be hardened and softened by air.

The 289 cubic inch (or 4.7l) Ford small block V8 has covered 92k miles, but still performs faultlessly and provides a wonderful soundtrack, especially with the roof down.
We have just carried out a major service, leads, cap, rotor, suspension mounts, rebuilt steering rack, along with a new rear exhaust sections.

The body, paint, chrome, soft top, glass, seats…in fact, every single facet of this Mustang is beautiful. While the 1968 Mustang GTA was a performance-oriented model with a unique hood, and side scoops, the California Special GT (often called “GT/CS”) featured specific cosmetic elements like a unique spoiler, taillight panel, and side striping. Not to mention the indicator lights inside the bonnet.

This is an exceptional example of an iconic car that would sit perfectly in a collection, or serve as a novel way to enjoy top down classic motoring in style.
