Chesil Speedster

When it comes to replicas, they don’t come much better or cooler than a Chesil Speedster.

Using the VW Beetle platform and sporting a GRP body, these stunning cars not only look convincing as a Porsche 356, but drive remarkably well, too.

Our 1972 example was purchased by its current owner in 2016 directly from Chesil Motor Company and is resplendent in its rare Duck Egg Blue paintwork.

In addition to the retrofitted Porsche badges, this car also boasts an additional luggage rack and rare removable hardtop which look spectacular alongside the retro white wall tyres.

The quality and attention to detail is abundant inside, too, with its green two-tone leather low-back classic bucket seats and green leather trim adorning the doors and dash top. The dished Moto-Lita wood rim steering wheel is the perfect compliment and the dashboard design, gauges, door handles etc are all directly translated from the Porsche 356. The only flashes of modernity are a contemporary head unit and heater fan tucked under the dashboard and an immobiliser for security.

On the road is where the Chesil impresses even further, however. The 1.6 engine provides enough power to have lots of fun with and the gearchange, steering, brakes and suspension are all sharp – adding up to a comfortable and rewarding driving experience.

The car has covered 14k miles since being built and has been meticulously maintained in that time.

The Chesil Speedster is a stunning and well-crafted car in its own right that will bring a smile to anyone behind the wheel and, indeed, anyone who sees it on the road.
