BMW E30 M3 Evolution II

36 years on from its release the E30 M3 still marks one of BMW’s finest ever moments.

This desirable 1988 non-sunroof example is of particular note in that it is a rare and much-coveted Evolution II model – 1 of just 500 produced.

Finished in the timeless colour combination of Nogaro Silver with grey leather/Überkaro cloth interior, the car presents extremely well having been dry stored by its previous owner for the last 18 years and its excellent condition belies the 135k kms on the clock.

The unique Evolution II front bumper and rear wing give the already bulging bodywork an even more aggressive silhouette, but the remaining unique Evolution II enhancements are a little harder to spot, such as lightened boot lid and bumpers, and thinner window glass.

The most noteworthy of Evolution II upgrades, however, is the 2.3 4-cylinder engine with its signature M liveried valve cover and airbox. The revisions include high compression pistons, redesigned air intake, lightened flywheel and updated engine management system to make the engine much more responsive than its standard sibling.

The car is in its complete original spec with M badged seats, onboard computer, electric windows and electric mirrors with the only modification being an aftermarket radio.

The history file that accompanies the car shows that it started life in Italy before spending a short time in England from 2000 before being imported to Ireland in 2003. A letter from BMW’s Product Homologation Manager confirms the car’s authenticity.

This is a beautiful example of one of the most sought after BMWs ever made that is supplied with a full bill of health and fresh NCT.
