BMW 1602

The BMW 1602 is a perfect blend of everything we love about classic BMWs. It’s stylish sporty 2-door coupe with a shark-nose front and just the right amount of chrome.

This late production 1975 example is resplendent in its original colour of Inka Orange following a vare metal respray 4 years ago, and has been maintained in stunning condition regardless of cost.

The car appears to be largely standard, save for a set of tasteful period style alloy wheels, and the reupholstered contrasting navy leather interior doesn’t give much away, either. But, once you dig a little deeper you start to uncover some of the many mechanical upgrades made to the car.

The most impressive and significant of these upgrades is that of a 1.8 engine and 5 speed gearbox from an E21 which runs a snorty pair of Dellorto 40 carbs and increases performance over the standard engine enormously.

If originality is more your thing, however, the car is supplied with its original engine and gearbox.

Other upgrades include rear brakes from a 2002, plus a huge amount of recent mechanical work including a full overhaul of the brakes and suspension, full gearbox refresh with new linkages, new tyres, re-cored radiator, engine mounts, gaskets and seals, hoses and electronic ignition.

This is a stunning and beautifully maintained 1602 in an attractive colour combo with tasteful upgrades that drives as well as it looks.
