When it comes to high-performance hatchbacks, it’s fair to say that Honda know a thing or two.
This 1998 EK9 Type-R is based on the sixth generation and has been tastefully upgraded, rebuilt and beautifully maintained in recent years with much money spent.
The Vogue Silver bodywork of the EK9 (arguably the most iconic Civic shape) presents very well and the car sits beautifully on its original 15″ wheels which have been recently refurbished.
The interior is of the same high standard. The iconic red Recaro front seats are in excellent condition and you’re left in no doubt that you are driving something special when behind the wheel. An Apexi RSM unit, J’s Racing rear brace bar and discreet brake bias valve have been fitted along with an aftermarket radio and speakers.
Additonal bracing comes in the form of a Cusco rear strut brace and J’s Racing front strut brace, plus lowered Tein springs and Yokohama AD08RS tyres sharpen up the handling and give incredible confidence when driving with intent!
The ultimate upgrade, however, is under the bonnet in the form of a B18 unit that has been breathed on to produce a stonking a 225bhp.
The spec includes Skunk 2 cams, springs and retainers, Neptune ECU, Fidanza clutch and flywheel, Seeker engine damper, PLM exhaust manifold with decat system, Mishimoto radiator, Spoon head gasket, Gruppe M carbon intake plus an S80 N3E gearbox with 4.7 final drive and shorter 4th and 5th gears.
The result is a sensational sounding, looking and performing powertrain that will see you looking for any excuse to get out on your favourite backroad (or track) and enjoy yourself.
A large history file accompanies the car along with photos of the rebuild work.
A beautifully presented and upgraded example a desirable Civic Type R.
