With the Arnage set to replace the legendary Turbo R model in 1995, Bentley wanted to do something special to cap off the Turbo era. And so, the Turbo S was conceived – an incredibly special limited production car with more power and more innovation.
This remarkable example in timeless British Racing Green is one of the just 60 units produced (29 of which were right hand drive) and has clearly been cherished by its previous owners with a huge amount of money spent on it to keep it looking and performing its best.
In addition to the beautiful deep green paintwork, all of the chrome trim, lights and glass are superb and the 17″ alloys are in perfect condition with very good Michelin tires all around.
The interior is nothing short of spectacular with its Sandstone leather sports-style seats, Conifer lambswool overmats, dark-stained walnut trim, green leather dashboard, concealed rear phone, Sandstone leather headliner and all of the other usual refinements like fully electric, heated front memory seats, vanity mirrors in c-pillars, and a bonus in the form of a retro looking Blaupunkt Bremen radio with bluetooth connectivity.
The quality of the ride is extraordinary and the stonking power from the upgraded turbo-charged 6.75 litre V8 (this one being number 52 of just 75 ever built) is intoxicating. The upgraded engine boasts a larger Garrett turbo, a liquid-cooled intercooler, revised induction system and a F1-derived Bosch engine managment system to produce 402bhp and 616lb/ft of torque. It’s hard to imagine a better car for blasting down to the south of France in for a weekend of excess!
The history file is equally as impressive as the car itself with every single invoice from throughout the car’s 30 years present, plus the original owner’s manuals, original Turbo S supplement and build sheet. Incredibly, the file shows that a fully documented “Global Overhaul” was carried out by renowned specialists Phantom Motors in 2018 at a cost of £32k, and that nearly €60k was spent in the last 4 years to make it mechanically perfect.
This is not your average Bentley. It is an incredible example of a truly remarkable model in the company’s long history that will not fail to impress.
