Between 1968 and 1970, Crayford (renowned for their convertible models) converted just 12 Cortinas to accommodate the 3.0 Essex V6 engine. Just 4 examples survive to this day – 3 Cortina GT based examples, and this…the only surviving Lotus Cortina example.
Just the existence of the car itself is enough to set hearts racing, but for the car to have been treated to one of the most astounding restorations we have ever seen is simply staggering.
The nut and bolt restoration was undertaken by leading experts Cortina Outlaws and EFD Restorations and the finished result is a thing of utter beauty.
The bodywork and paintwork, including the beautifully painted black stripes down the side, are of an exceptional standard and the overall attention to detail and level of finish are unsurpassable.
Every fixture, fitting, bracket, screw, bolt is gleaming and flawless inside, outside and underneath.
The black steel wheels and perfect stance give the car a menacing aesthetic, and the perfectly presented interior boasts a pair of rare desirable Microcell Contour bucket seats with matching rear bench – a perfect compliment for a fast-road car of the 60s.
And fast is exactly what this unique Cortina is.
The 3.0 V6 engine has been hugely enhanced with an upgraded, camshaft, modified heads and a set of triple downdraught Webers that make the most intoxicating sound. With its sharp handling and beautiful power delivery, this is a Cortina like no other.
Since the completion of the restoration, the car has been dry stored and only covered minimal mileage.
A truly unrepeatable car that would be at home in both a concours event or simply hammering down your favourite backroad.
